What is City Life?
City Life is a holiday program specifically designed for 17-26 year olds with a disability.
City Life gives you and your family new and exciting choices for when you are on break from your study.
Running in the school holidays, City Life is perfect for those times when you don’t have to be at TAFE or your other course, but when you want to be doing something.
The City Life program incorporates things like art and crafts and movies, as well as regular outings to destinations throughout Melbourne.
Exploring the Melbourne City and surrounding areas is just one exciting and unique focus for the program.
The program is designed to provide an engaging environment for people to form lasting social relationships. City Life helps provide many opportunities for people to make new and lasting friendships.
The program costs include everything except transport and lunch. So on days where the group will be visiting venues, the costs associated with entry fees etc are all included in the cost for that day.
Who runs City Life?
City Life is an exciting new initiative of the Disability Employment Action Centre (DEAC). DEAC is a rights based organisation for people with a disability or disadvantage, with programs running in areas such as employment, education and training, rehabilitation and legal advocacy services.
Having been around for 20 years, DEAC has gained a reputation as a leader in disability services. We have expert staff qualified in areas as diverse as training specialists, case managers, occupational therapists, lawyers and psychologists.
You can rest assured that the participants are being well looked after whilst having an absolute ball!
Some of the activities planned for the City Life program are:
- Ten Pin bowling at Strike on Swanston Street
- A visit to the Melbourne Aquarium by the Yarra
- Exploring Scienceworks museum
- Seeing a movie on the big screen at Village Cinemas on Bourke Street
- A birds eye view of Melbourne from the Rialto Observation Deck
